Career win No. 8 will be one Chris Wade likely never forgets, as it was his first inside the Octagon.
Wade scored a submission victory over Cain Carrizosa in the opening minutes of UFC 177 Saturday night, securing a guillotine choke that nearly put Carrizosa out completely.
“It feels great,” Wade said. “As I got closer to the Octagon, the jitters started to set in, but I tried to stay clam and it worked out.”
Wade (8-1) tossed Carrizosa to his back with a perfect takedown as the fighter rushed in, securing the back. When Carrizosa started to transition, Wade found an opening and attacked.
“As I had his back, I didn’t feel like I had anything too solid,” he said. “I tried to stay patient and made my move. I transitioned into an arm-in, followed him and squeezed as hard as I could.”
The loss was the first of the career of Carrizosa, who is now 6-1 overall.
