Several important MMA items were discussed during the recent Nevada Athletic Commission hearing held earlier this week.

The board decided upon referee and judging assignments for the UFC 178 main event that features flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson defending his title against Chris Cariaso.

Veteran referee Herb Dean will serve as the third man, while Sal D’Amato, Marcos Rosales and Glenn Trowbridge are the judges Octagon-side.

Approval was also granted to the UFC to hold three events in December and January in Las Vegas, as UFC 181, The Ultimate Fighter 20 Finale and UFC 182 will take place over a month-long span.

The board also gave out temporary suspensions to both UFC fighters Kevin Casey and Robert Drysdale following failed post-fight drug tests in July.

Casey was found to have drostanalone in his system, while Drysdale had elevated levels of testosterone. Formal complaints – and suspensions – will come down from the NAC soon.
