Mike Winkeljohn is the other-half to the famed MMA gym in New Mexico alongside Greg Jackson. The camp boasts the likes of UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, Travis Browne, Carlos Condit, Clay Guida and others.

Holly Holm is part of the gym, having recently signed on with the UFC after a standout boxing career. Holm remains sidelined with a broken arm, but her debut is getting closer, according to Winkeljohn.

“She’s still working hard, she’s out there wrestling with one-arm every day,” he said, during a recent appearance on Submission Radio. “She’s been working on her kicks. Her kicks are going to a whole new level. You can’t get her out of the gym.”

Winkeljohn added that Holm isn’t feeling much added pressure stepping into the UFC, saying “she’s used to the pressure.

“Honestly, I think she’s gonna handle it just fine,” he said. “She’s just focused on winning fights and I don’t think pressure’s gonna bug her in the slightest.”

A new member to the gym is UFC heavyweight Alistair Overeem, a previous opponent of gym members Browne and even Frank Mir.

“He’s gone out of his way to help other people in the gym with their skills, which is huge to me, and he’s a charismatic guy, he’s fun to be around, he does what he says. I absolutely love having him on the team. It’s been great so far. He’s been working with Jon Jones a little bit just as of recent, he makes friends with everybody in the gym, he keeps it professional,” he said. “I don’t know if he hangs out with anyone outside the gym, which I actually like better because they come, they work with each other, they beat each other up, they learn from each other, and they go forward and become better fighters.”

Winkeljohn also provided an update on Kyle Noke, who suffered a knee injury and was forced out of a planned upcoming fight.

“You know he’s holding up as best as he can. The poor guy just can’t get a break, he keeps getting injured. It’s just one of those things, he hasn’t fought that many times in the last couple of years and it’s a little disheartening that that’s happened, but you know hopefully the injury isn’t quite as bad as bad as I first thought,” he said. “I thought he was gonna be out for a good long time, but hopefully he’ll be back fighting again in about three months.”
