Former Strikeforce champion Nate Marquardt underwent what he described as “minor” knee surgery recently.

Marquardt (33-13-2) defeated James Te Huna via submission this past June, snapping a three-fight losing skid.

Marquardt won the Strikeforce title in 2012 when he stopped Tyron Woodley, but dropped the belt to Tarec Saffiedine in early 2013. He also suffered first round knockout losses upon returning to the UFC to Jake Ellenberger and Hector Lombard.

Back in 2007, “The Great” worked his way into a shot at the UFC middleweight title and Anderson Silva, but was stopped by “The Spider” with 10 seconds left in the opening round. He went 6-3 after that before signing with Strikeforce.
