UFC light heavyweight No. 1 contender Alexander Gustafsson is done with surgery to repair his injured knee. “The Mauler” posted a picture of himself on Instagram following the operation on Tuesday.

Gustafsson (16-2) was given a rematch with UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones for September, but he tore his meniscus in training and was replaced by Daniel Cormier.

“Dude, just woke up!” Gustafsson posted with a picture of himself. “Never been more motivated my friends!”

The 27-year-old Swede won six straight from 2010-12 to earn a shot at Jones last September. He dropped the bout via decision, and was paired up with Jimi Manuwa this past March. Gustafsson won via second round TKO to secure a second shot at Jones.

Gustafsson is expected to challenge the winner of Jones-Cormier. His only other career loss came to Phil Davis via submission in 2010 in the first round.

Prior to going in for surgery, Gustafsson engaged in a brief feud with Jones again on social media. Jones was forced to get stitches around his right eye due to a cut in training, which was in the same area as Gustafsson broke open during their five-round war.
