A rumored welterweight scrap between contenders Rory MacDonald and Tarec Saffiedine has been officially announced by the UFC.

The contest will take place October 4 from Nova Scotia, Canada and is expected to serve as the main event. It is the only fight announced to date for the card.

MacDonald (17-2) has picked up two straight decision wins since a split decision loss to Robbie Lawler last November. Overall, the Canadian is 7-1 in his last eight fights, including wins over Tyron Woodley, Demian Maia and B.J. Penn.

Saffiedine (15-3) is on a five-fight win streak, earning a decision victory over Hyun Gyu Lim in his Octagon debut this past January. He was the last man to hold the Strikeforce title, winning the belt from Nate Marquardt.
