Cub Swanson claims to have been told by UFC officials that he would get the winner of Jose Aldo vs. Chad Mendes.

And, while the bout has been moved from August to October, Swanson feels he remains the next man to contend for the featherweight title.

Recently, members of Frankie Edgar’s management team stated on Twitter that Edgar and Swanson would be in a main event fight later this year. Swanson decided to reply to those thoughts himself.

“Props to Frankie’s camp for announcing fights that aren’t even real,” Swanson wrote on Twitter. “Shady management at its finest.

“I can’t wait to fight the winner of Aldo/Mendes! Either way the fight goes.”

Swanson (21-5) picked up his sixth straight win this past June when he defeated Jeremy Stephens. He also owns victories over Dennis Siver, Dustin Poirier, Charles Oliveira, Ross Pearson and George Roop since a loss to Ricardo Lamas.

Edgar (17-4-1) has won back-to-back fights and is a former lightweight champion.
