ufc 178

Two former Strikeforce fighters will step inside the Octagon this September, as Bobby Green meets Jorge Masvidal at UFC 178. Officials announced the bout on Tuesday.

Set for September 27 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, the card features a main event between light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier. Former bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz will also be in action that night, along with a returning Cat Zingano.

Green (23-5) stepped up on short notice and defeated Josh Thomson this past weekend, improving his win streak to eight overall. He is 4-0 since joining the UFC.

Masvidal (27-8) improved to 5-1 in his last six with a finish of Daron Cruickshank on the same UFC on FOX 12 card from San Jose. His lone loss came to Rustam Khabilov. Masvidal was hoping to face Donald Cerrone in September.

If this card stays this stacked, it could be one of the best this year.

One of the best Jon Jones headliner UFC PPV cards in a while. Just my opinion, but to me the UFC seems to dog his cards like they do no other headliner.

UFC seems to dog PPV cards in general these days

but yep, looks awesome so far

holy fuck buckets Cerrone vs Alvarez is being penciled in for 178 as well if UFC can get Eddie out of his contract in time. Seriously holiest of shits I’ll be so excited if Eddie starts fighting regularly again. Aside from Nick Diaz he is the one guy i like to watch more than anyone else still fighting.
    Imagine the possibilities…

  • Dufresne says:

I saw that this morning as well. If they can pull off Cerone/Alvarez this card will be absolute bonkers.
