Adriano Martins suffered a loss for the first time since 2011 earlier this year, as Donald Cerrone caught him with a head-kick finish in Chicago.

Sunday night, Martins returned the favor to Juan Manuel Puig, catching the Octagon newcomer and dropping him at The Ultimate Fighter 19 Finale.

Martins (26-7) improved to 2-1 with the UFC, having also earned a victory in Strikeforce last year. He is 13-2 in his last 15 fights overall, including a pair of six-fight win streaks.

“We saw he was always walking forward, so that was the game plan (to counter),” Martins said. “It was exactly what we worked on and worked perfectly.”

Martins has finished 15 of his opponents, including 12 via knockout.
