The three-ring circus of Chael Sonnen, Wanderlei Silva and Vitor Belfort took another turn Tuesday with news that Sonnen had failed his drug test.

Silva declined taking his drug test when approached by the Nevada Athletic Commission, which suspended his fight license and prompted the UFC to tab Belfort to meet Sonnen next month.

Now with Sonnen on the sidelines, Silva is taking the opportunity to try and put his name back on the bout sheet.

Silva could try and gain clearance at a meeting later this month in front of the NAC, but Sonnen is also expected to appeal his recent decision.

Meanwhile, Belfort will also need to be cleared by the board in order to compete – if an opponent is named for him.
