John Moraga tried and tried to keep fighting Saturday night at UFC Fight Night 42, begging to complete this flyweight bout with John Dodson.

However, on the advice of the Octagon-side doctor, the fight was stopped after the second round. Moraga was bleeding from his nose after catching a knee, and it looked to be broken.

In the hours after the card, though, he updated his fans on his status. The loss was the second in his last three fights inside the Octagon.

“Nose not broken (by the way),” he wrote on Twitter. “Four stitches and by the time I walked into the hallway and looked in the mirror bleeding was pretty much done.

“(I don’t know) why they stopped it. Doc kept saying the couldn’t stop the bleeding my trainer says they did stop it. Don House said I was fine. Damn.”

Dodson likely vaulted himself into another championship match with the win. Demetrious Johnson defends the belt Saturday against Ali Bagautinov at UFC 174 in the main event.

During his interview on the post-fight show, Dodson did say he would grant Moraga a rematch if officials seeked it.
