John Dodson soaked in the pro-Albuquerque crowd Saturday night, as the New Mexico native finished John Moraga at UFC Fight Night 42.

Dodson caught Moraga with a vicious knee that likely broke the nose of Moraga, causing the doctor to stop the contest after the second round.

With the win, Dodson (16-6) made sure to call out the UFC flyweight champion. Demetrious Johnson defends his belt next Saturday night against Ali Bagautinov.

“I believe I’ve done enough (for a title-fight),” Dodson said. “Whoever wins, look out for me because I am coming for that belt. I am bringing it home because I am the best in this division.

“I have the most power. Let’s see what happens.”

Dodson, who still resides in Albuquerque, has now finished each of his last three wins, stopping Moraga, Darrell Montague and Jussier Formiga. Overall, of his 16 career wins, half of them have been knockouts.

“I wanted to put him to sleep for you guys,” Dodson said. “He was a gamer, fighting me in my hometown, my backyard.”

Moraga (14-3) is now just 1-2 in his last three, having also lost to Johnson for the title last year. He is 3-2 inside the Octagon.
