Welterweights Robbie Lawler and Matt Brown will meet in July at UFC on FOX 12 for the right to be the No. 1 contender to Johny Hendricks’ title. The bout was made official by UFC president Dana White on Tuesday.

Set for July 26, the card takes place from San Jose and the SAP Center. Other previously reported fights include Anthony Johnson vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Josh Thomson vs. Michael Johnson.

Lawler (23-10) is coming off a victory over Jake Ellenberger at UFC 173. Prior to that, he was defeated by Hendricks in a bout for the vacant UFC welterweight championship.

The former Strikeforce fighter is 8-4 during two stints inside the Octagon. The 32-year-old is 12-6 with one no-contest since a 2006 loss to Jason “Mayhem” Miller.

Brown (19-11) has put together an impressive seven-fight win streak that includes six stoppage wins. He finished Erick Silva earlier this month and has turned himself into a contender after going just 1-4 over a five-fight stretch from 2010-11.

Hendricks is sidelined recovering from bicep surgery. Also, top welterweights Tyron Woodley and Rory MacDonald are set to meet in June.
