Erick Silva nearly had Matt Brown finished in the opening moments of their UFC Fight Night 40 main event bout Saturday night. However, by the time the third round rolled around, Silva found himself on the canvas, unable to get up.

Silva remained there as the fans started to leave the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati. Officials eventually had to bring a stretcher to the Octagon to get Silva the assistance he needed.

During the post-fight press conference, UFC president Dana White mentioned a possible concussion or fractured jaw for Silva, who was taken to a nearby hospital for further examination. White updated the status of the welterweight on Twitter, posting, “Erick Silva came back with a clean bill of health and can fly home (Monday).”

Silva earned high praise from his opponent, Brown, after the fight. The opening round between the two is already being billed as the “Round of the Year,” while some have labeled the contest the “Fight of the Year.”

“I can’t say nothing but good things about (Silva),” Brown said. “It was a pretty amazing performance on his part.”

The two won “Fight of the Night” honors for their efforts, netting each one $50,000.
