UFC officials have added flyweights Jussier Formiga and Zach Makovsky to UFC 176. The bout was first reported by Philly.com.

Set for August 2 in Los Angeles and the Staples Center, the main event that night will see Jose Aldo defend his featherweight title against Chad Mendes. The only other bout announced to date is a women’s contest between Bethe Correia and Shayna Baszler.

Formiga (16-3) evened his UFC record to 2-2 with a first round submission victory over Scott Jorgensen earlier this year. Jorgensen appealed the loss, citing an accidental head butt, but the commission in Brazil denied his request.

The 29-year-old from Brazil is a member of the Nova Uniao team. He also earned a decision over Chris Cariaso in 2013, while falling to former title contenders Joseph Benavidez and John Dodson via TKO. Prior to signing with the UFC, Formiga had won 14 of his first 15 bouts, losing only to Ian McCall in 2011 via decision.

Makovsky (18-4) has earned two wins since joining the promotion out of the RFA, extending his win streak to four overall. The former Bellator champion has topped Jorgensen and Josh Sampo, both via decision.

The 31-year-old Makovsky became the Bellator bantamweight champion when he won the season three title with a decision victory over Ed West. He only defended the belt once, falling to Eduardo Dantas by a second round arm-triangle choke in 2012. After a split decision loss to Anthony Leone later that year, he was released.
