Fabio Maldonado has agreed to step in on just a few weeks notice to face Stipe Miocic at The Ultimate Fighter Brazil 3 Finale. Combate out of Brazil first reported the news.

Maldonado will be replacing Junior dos Santos, who suffered a hand injury and was removed from the main event fight on Monday. The card takes place May 31 from Sao Paulo, Brazil.

This past March, Maldonado (21-6) defeated Gian Villante. The light heavyweight has won three straight, improving his Octagon mark to 4-3 overall.

After his most recent victory, Maldonado was pushing for a bout with Dan Henderson. He made his case on Twitter, saying, “I’m a big fans of (Henderson) and it would be an honor if you gave me the chance to fight you.” He sent a message to UFC president Dana White saying “I know I have a lot to improve but I’m a 5 rounds fighter. It would be a great fight for the fans and dream come true to me (to face Henderson).”

Miocic (11-1) is 5-1 with the promotion, including a victory over Roy Nelson last year. He is on a two-fight win streak.

“Honestly just happy the UFC got me a fight and I can’t wait to get to Brazil to put on a show for the fans I’ve been hearing so much about,” Miocic posted on Twitter.
