UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has been nothing but respectful of Glover Teixeira in the lead-up to their meeting this Saturday at UFC 172.

“Bones” understands that the Brazilian holds plenty of knockout power in both of his hands and is well-versed all around to challenge him.

“He’s an amazing wrestler, has power in both hands,” said Jones, during an interview on UFC Tonight. “I’ve got a great fight in front of me.”

As a former junior college national champion, Jones has been taken down just once in his UFC career. If things head in that direction, he feels “really confident in the wrestling category.”

“I respect his knockout power,” he added. “We’re ready for everywhere. I’m confident.”

Jones (19-1) could have selected a rematch with Alexander Gustafsson after the two went the distance last year. Instead, he opted to give Teixeira a title shot.

“I’m very happy with the choice,” he stated. “Glover hasn’t lost in five years.”
