A decision loss to Johny Hendricks cost Robbie Lawler the UFC welterweight title. In the process, though, it taught him a lesson.

Lawler will return to action later this year against Jake Ellenberger, as he looks to get right back into the mix at 170 pounds.

“Ruthless” recently appeared on “UFC Tonight” and discussed if he used the wrong strategy heading into the Hendricks bout last month.

“I wasn’t out there to win rounds,” he said. “I was trying to knock him out. I wanted to beat him up.”

Lawler, though, believes now that he “should have thought about it.”

“I learned a lot from the fight,” he added. “He pushed me hard and I came up a little short.”
