There will be no Gina Carano-Ronda Rousey match up this summer, as UFC president Dana White announced plans for Rousey to defend her bantamweight title against Alexis Davis.

The championship match will join Chris Weidman-Lyoto Machida for the middleweight title at UFC 175 during International Fight week in July.

White made the announcement via Twitter late Friday night.

Carano was rumored for a possible return to MMA and immediate title shot, even meeting with White recently. There was no update on her status as an active fighter.

Rousey (9-0) is coming off her first knockout victory when she earned a finish over Sara McMann earlier this year. All of her eight previous wins had come via armbar.

Davis (16-5) has won five straight overall, including three inside the Octagon. She scored a split decision over Jessica Eye this past February.

If things remain as-scheduled, Rousey and Weidman will be joining forces again on pay-per-view. They were the co- and main events to the year-end show in December where Rousey topped Miesha Tate and Weidman finished Anderson Silva.
