UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks underwent surgery to repair his torn bicep Monday.

Hendricks, who won the belt recently when he bested Robbie Lawler via decision, is already back home and recovering from the operation.

“Surgery this morning and headed home on some great pain meds,” he posted on Twitter. “Thank u everyone I feel good and they say I will be punching hard again soon lol.”

Hendricks is expected to return to the Octagon later this year, with the UFC likely pairing up the welterweight contenders in the meantime to determine a contender.
