Former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre hasn’t departed from MMA completely.

St-Pierre, who will corner Francis Carmont in Brazil Saturday night at UFC Fight Night: Machida vs. Mousasi, told that he is in a good place right now.

GSP announced his decision to vacate the title after a win over Johny Hendricks. He cited a desire to step away at the time for his reason.

“I am happy,” St-Pierre said. “One thing you see is I’ve gained muscle mass. The stress was eating me alive and I was losing weight.

“It was not a healthy lifestyle. I needed to take that break mentally and if I come back, I’ll come back stronger.”

Hendricks and Robbie Lawler are slated to meet later this year to crown a new champion in the division.

As for a timetable in terms of his return, GSP still isn’t ready to set a date.

“I don’t know the time,” he said. “I’m waiting a little bit. It’s very therapeutic for me, taking a break.”
