UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones had a few extra minutes between likely training sessions on Wednesday, and offered up fans via Twitter a chance to ask him questions.
While Jones declined several invitations to follow other people on the social networking site, he did answer up some interesting questions – and even called out a fellow UFC fighter.
“Hey somebody tell Joe Lauzon I’d beat him in a jiu-jitsu match with my hands taped closed,” Jones wrote, in rsponse to somebody saying he should call out Lauzon.
Well, Lauzon didn’t hesitate, replying back, “this can be arranged.” Jones added, “I smell a charity event” in response.
In other news, Jones said “changes nothing” when someone asked what he made of Jackson MMA teammate Travis Browne training with Glover Teixeira. Jones and Teixeira will meet later this year for the title.
Jones said he knew he wanted to become a professional fighter at age 19, which was around the time he was winning a junior college wrestling title for Iowa Central.
He stated that the big toe injury suffered vs. Chael Sonnen hurt more than his elbow injury, and proclaimed himself to be “about 227” pounds several weeks out from his fight with Teixeira.
As for his most recent fight – a win over Alexander Gustafsson – Jones said “It was an amazing fight and I will admit it was extremely close but he still came up short, next opponent.” The two are likely to square off again if they both get past their next foes.
Jones also had plenty of fun, including stating he was “more of a yahoo guy” when asked if he’s ever typed his name into Google and that “George and I had a blast that night, trust me” in regards to running into former UFC champion Georges St-Pierre Super Bowl weekend.
