UFC 170 has dealt with several injuries over the course of the past few weeks, but most of them came at the expense of prelim fighters.

Well, all that changed on Wednesday, as officials announced that former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans is injured and will not make his co-main event bout with Daniel Cormier.

The two were part of a media conference call earlier in the day, but no mention of the injury was given. Officials will not try to find a replacement for Evans, who was slated to welcome Cormier to 205 pounds.

Evans posted a picture of himself on Instagram Tuesday and described “clearing hurdles” as his current focus. He mentioned Cormier being that next hurdle.

Cormier, meanwhile, posted on Twitter:

“I’m so sad, but I wanna fight,” he wrote. “I’ve trained so hard. Chael Sonnen, Anthony Johnson, anybody. Maybe a heavyweight. Anyone please!”
