The UFC is returning to the Middle East for the first time since UFC 112 as the promotion heads back to the United Arab Emirates for UFC Fight Night 39. The April 11 fight card will be headlined by a heavyweight clash between Roy Nelson and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. UFC officials announced the Abu Dhabi card on Tuesday evening.

The two big men are looking to right the ship after losses in their previous outings. Nelson comes into the bout having lost two straight in lackluster performances against Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic. The ADCC veteran will take on fellow ADCC veteran “Minotauro” Nogueira in the night’s main event. The Brazilian heads into the bout after a tough loss to Fabrico Werdum at UFC on FUEL TV 10.

The UFC’s only previous trip to Abu Dhabi remains rather infamous for former middleweight champion Anderson Silva’s bizarre title 2010 defense opposite Demian Maia. UFC Fight Night 39 will be aired live via UFC Fight Pass. More bouts are expected to be announced soon.
