Joe Lauzon worked his way to an impressive, unanimous decision victory over Mac Danzig last night at UFC on FOX 9, to end a two fight losing streak. Since no fighter, not even an established vet like “J-Lau” wants to incur a third straight loss in the UFC, the lightweight should be feeling pretty good about the victory right?

Well, while Lauzon is understandably happy he got the win, the performance bonus machine can no longer claim he’s never needed the judge’s to pick up a victory. As Lauzon relayed at the post-fighter presser:

“I think I fought a great fight. I think there’s a lot of things that we worked on in camp that I executed perfectly. It’s a little bit, bitter sweet because I had 100% finish rate before this, and that was the first one I won by decision. So I guess that’s good and bad.”

“I would have loved to finish that first armlock. He just toughed it out. I completely popped his arm; I’m sure he’ll be in a sling. I popped it a few times. He just refused to tap. So that would have been nice.”

There’s no doubt Danzig showed a ton of heart and toughness in the bout, as he never backed off despite taking some brutal elbows. And then of course there was also that armbar from Lauzon that Danzig managed to power through…

Unfortunately for the former TUF winner, however, that was Danzig’s third straight defeat and the fourth in his last five scraps.
