The decision to place Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler on the UFC 171 card in March to determine a new UFC welterweight champion has caused a shift in planned main events.

UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and challenger Glover Teixeira, who have been mentioned for spots from February through March, will now compete at UFC 172. A location has yet to be determined for that card.

Hendricks and Lawler were paired after Georges St-Pierre announced his decision to vacate the title on Thursday. During the special conference call UFC president Dana White stated that the bout would be the co-main event. He later took to Twitter to clarify.
