Former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans could be the man to welcome Daniel Cormier to the division.

Appearing on “UFC Tonight” Wednesday, Evans hinted that he may sign to face “DC” in the near future, according to reports the fighter has heard “around the water cooler.”

Evans (19-3-1) is coming off a destruction of Chael Sonnen. The former Ultimate Fighter winner is now 14-3-1 inside the Octagon.

Cormier (13-0) won both of his UFC fights this past year in the heavyweight division. The ex-Olympian has been making subtle remarks on Twitter about a fight being announced soon.

“Really enjoying this time, but I am really ready to get back to work,” he wrote. “May have a fight to announce real soon.”

In responding to a post, Cormier wrote that “not top 20 top 5” when asked about who he might face next. Evans would fit that bill following his recent wins.
