As far as Robbie Lawler is concerned, the UFC welterweight title should be around the waist of Johny Hendricks.

Both competed Saturday night at UFC 167, with Lawler defeating Rory MacDonald and Hendricks falling to Georges St-Pierre for the belt.

After Hendricks’ split decision defeat, GSP announced he was “stepping away.” UFC president Dana White said he will get him to compete again, likely vs. “Bigg Rigg,” but Lawler already has other plans for the two.

“Johny won the fight, I won the fight; let’s do it for the interim title,” said Lawler, during the post-fight show. “Let’s do this, plain and simple.”

Since returning to the promotion, Lawler has looked like another fighter, destroying Josh Koscheck and Bobby Voelker before claiming a decision over MacDonald, a close friend and training partner of St-Pierre’s.
