UFC bantamweight Liz Carmouche has endeared herself to fans over the past few years through hard work, humility, and heart. The 29-year old Marine veteran first showed up on radar screens in Strikeforce after spirited efforts against Jan Finney, Marloes Coenen, and Sarah Kaufman, transitioning the success into a 3-1 run since the organization’s collapse. Carmouche will look to build on the momentum of her July TKO over Jessica Andrade on Wednesday when she’ll collide with Alexis Davis at UFC Fight Night 31 in the evening’s co-headlining clash. Carmouche recently spoke to UFC.com about the bout, also reflecting on her performance against Andrade and how the public has accepted her since emerging as the UFC’s first openly gay athlete.
