The UFC has been busy rounding out the line-up for UFC on FOX 9 on December 14th, and the card’s latest addition will feature two TUF winners throwing down. The promotion has confirmed that TUF 17 winner Kelvin Gastelum will take on TUF 11 winner Court McGee at the Sacramento bound card.
McGee (16-3) will be gunning for his third straight win, as the resilient welterweight is coming off decision wins over Josh Neer and Robert Whittaker. Prior to the victories the 28 year-old vet had dropped back-to-back bouts to middleweights Nick Ring and Costa Philippou, which prompted his move to 170.
“The Crusher” has gone 5-2 to date in the Octagon, which includes his 2010 win over Kris McKray to take TUF 11.
Gastelum (7-0) continued to impress at UF Fight Night 27 last month, as the 21 year-old quickly submitted Brian Melancon at the August 28th card. In April, Gastelum raised more than a few eyebrows throughout MMA by working his way to a decision win over Uriah Hall to win TUF 17. Hall had pretty much blasted through the competition until that juncture (you can see what Gastelum had to say about that fight in a recent interview he did with RM Sports here).
So, UFC on FOX 9 continues to fill up with intriguing bouts. The card will be headlined by lightweight champ Anthony Pettis taking on Josh Thomson, and will also feature Urijah Faber battling fellow bantamweight contender Michael McDonald. Matt Brown is also scheduled to fight top ranked welterweight Carlos Condit, in what promises to be a doozy of tilt.
