UFC featherweights Nik Lentz and Dennis Bermudez aren’t typically included in the discussion when it comes to title-contenders at 145 pounds but that could change when the two tussle at UFC Fight Night 31. Both men are currently on solid winning streaks, giving the winner an opportunity to move up to the next level of competition depending on how things unfold at the November 6 show.
Officials have confirmed the fight’s addition to the card.
Bermudez has won a quartet of consecutive clashes since falling to Diego Brandao in the Ultimate Fighter 14 final. He is 11-3 in his career with notable victories over Matt Grice, Pablo Garza, and Max Holloway.
At 24-5-2 there’s no question Lentz is the more experienced competitor. He is 3-0 since dropping down to 145 after a run at lightweight, stringing together instances of success against Eiji Mitsuoka, Diego Nunes, and most recently Hacran Dias.
UFC Fight Night 31, tagged as “Fight for the Troops 3”, is set for Fort Campbell in Kentucky and will feature Lyoto Machida–Tim Kennedy mixing it up in the main event. Other match-ups announced for the lineup include Lorenz Larkin-Chris Camozzi and Michael Chiesa-Colton Smith.
