UFC featherweight Chan Sung Jung is proving to be far more mortal than his nickname might imply, as “The Korean Zombie” is headed to the sidelines for up to twelve months based on injuries he sustained in an August 3 tilt with champion Jose Aldo. Sadly, it will mark the second straight time Jung will collect dust while recovering from health-related woes, as his bout with Aldo came after more than a year on the shelf.

According to MMAFighting, Jung’s manager said the 26-year old underwent surgery for a broken orbital bone and dislocated shoulder and isn’t likely to be back until next summer.

The 13-4 Jung lost to Aldo after the Brazilian capitalized on his arm injury, ultimately sealing the deal with strikes in the fourth frame of their UFC 163 showdown. The defeat ended a three-fight winning streak for the fan-favorite including success against Mark Hominick, Leonard Garcia, and Dustin Poirier.
