The passion of Brazilian fans and fighters will once again be on display thanks to this weekend’s lineup for UFC 163. Headlined by featherweight champ Jose Aldo (22-1) putting his gold up for grabs against Chan Sung Jung (13-3), the card also features appearances from South American stars such as Vinny Magalhaes, Thales Leites, Cezar Ferreira, and Lyoto Machida.
Before the competitors can take to the cage in Rio de Janeiro they had to first hit the stage and make weight. With one exception, all athletes were successful in doing so including Aldo, Jung, Machida, and Phil Davis.
Flyweight John Lineker came in at 129 pounds for his preliminary pairing. Though he received extra time to shed the necessary baggage it seems unlikely given the amount required meaning he will almost certainly fork out a percentage of his purse to opponent Jose Maria Tome.
