Matt Hamill-Thiago Silva match-up linked to UFC Fight Night 29

Two UFC veterans in need of a win appear destined to duke it out on October 9 in the form of light heavyweights Thiago Silva and Matt Hamill. Both men are coming off wins and looking to re-establish themselves in the division after a rough patch littered with losses.

Though not confirmed by UFC officials, a bout between the two was reported by Knockout Radio. The match-up would serve as part of the main card for UFC Fight Night 29 in Brazil.

Silva (15-3) picked up an opening round knockout win over Rafael Cavalcante in June. The performance marked the twelfth TKO of his career and fourteenth finish overall.

The 11-4 Hamill returned after a brief retirement to beat Roger Hollett earlier this year. He also owns notable wins over Keith Jardine, Mark Munoz, and Tito Ortiz.

Guess I forgot Hamill came out of retirement…..thought he was long gone. Gotta go with Thiago in this one. Just feel like he’s the better all around fighter.

Yea I remember he came out of retirement but total fell off my radar. Here’s hoping he wins…some reason Thiago just irks me. Maybe it’s his failed drug tests or maybe something else but for me he’s easy to root against.

  • SBERG says:

Ya notice I said better fighter…not Would love for Hamill to win , really I would, Just don’t see it….

  • Dufresne says:

I don’t like this matchup for Hamill at all, which is sad because I really like him as a person.
