The names involved may not be major but the main card at next month’s lineup for UFC 163 in Brazil has two new tilts on tap after a pair of pugilists went down in camp while training for the August 3 event. According to an official announcement, middleweight Clint Hester and flyweight Phil Harris have dropped out of their respective rumbles and been replaced by regional stars ready to make their Octagon debuts.
Thiago Santos has taken Hester’s spot against Cezar Ferreira. He holds an overall record of 8-1. Half of his wins have been the result of a strike-based stoppage.
Meanwhile, the 33-3 Jose Maria Tome will put his seventeen-fight unbeaten streak on the line against John Lineker. Also impressive, Tome has scored 28 finishes with a nice balance between TKOs/submissions.
