The career of bantamweight Brian Bowles has taken a rough turn as of late, dropping back-to-back bouts since stringing together wins in his first two UFC fights. Now, it appears Bowles may not have an opportunity to make up for his consecutive stumbles, as the 32-year old tested positive for banned substances following his latest loss.

The 10-3 Bowles was listed by the Nevada Athletic Commission as the lone athlete tested at UFC 160 whose sample came back dirty. Specifically, he was found to have an elevated level of testosterone in his system (more than a 20:1 t/e ratio).

No punishment was mentioned other than to say a “complaint will be forthcoming”, though it’s safe to assume Bowles will likely receive a 6-12 month suspension and hefty fine as a result. Since he suffered a TKO loss to opponent George Roop at the event no result will be altered.
