Bellator has added another UFC veteran to the roster after recent signings of Matt Riddle and Vladimir Matyushenko. This time around, the deal brought in John Alessio to bolster the company’s lightweight ranks.

Alessio announced the move on his Facebook page, writing, “Very excited for this new chapter in my fight career. Pumped to fight live on Spike TV for all of you!”

It is unknown if he will fight during the Summer Series or make his debut in the Season 9 tournament field this fall.

The 33-year old Alessio made his professional debut in 1998 and compiled a record of 33-16 in the span since including 25 finishes. Among the opponents Alessio has beaten in the past are the likes of Luigi Fioravanti, Pete Spratt, Ryan Healy, and War Machine.
