Former WEC champion Mike Brown came close to retiring but isn’t ready to hang his gloves up yet, opting for at least one more shot inside the Octagon. The 37-year old featherweight, who hasn’t fought in more than a year, was officially announced for action on August 17 at UFC on FS 1 where he’ll clash with Akira Corassani.

Despite the layoff, the 26-8 Brown is on a two-fight winning streak and only decided to contemplate calling it quits after dealing with a few health-related issues. Eighteen of his victories have featured some form of stoppage including those over Leonard Garcia and Urijah Faber.

Corassani also exited his last two tilts with a triumph in tow. He holds an overall record of 11-3 with the majority of his match-ups going the distance.

Other scraps scheduled for the Boston-bound show include Thiago Alves-Matt Brown, Nick Ring-Uriah Hall, and Alistair Overeem-Travis Browne.
