Unbeaten Ultimate Fighter 15 winner Michael Chiesa has looked sharp in both of his UFC bouts but hasn’t had a true test inside the Octagon at this stage of his career. However, that will change in the coming months, as Chiesa has received an opportunity to prove he belongs on the deep end of the division’s proverbial pool of talent.

According to an official announcement, Chiesa will collide with Strikeforce veteran Jorge Masvidal at UFC on FOX 8 after original opponent Reza Madadi withdrew due to an issue with obtaining a visa. The bout is scheduled to take place on the preliminary portion of the July 27 card.

The 24-7 Masvidal has found success in four of his last five fights with the only exception being a decision defeat to Gilbert Melendez. In addition to Tim Means, who he outpointed last month in his UFC debut, Masvidal owns past wins over the likes of Yves Edwards, Justin Wilcox, and K.J. Noons.

Chiesa is 9-0 with submissions in seven of the victories. He was last seen tapping out Anton Kuivanen in February at UFC 157.
