Shane Del Rosario - MMAWEEKLYHeavyweights Dave Herman and Shane Del Rosario both entered the UFC with a ton of potential, stringing together a number of consecutive wins with the majority involving some form of stoppage. However, when they meet at UFC 162 the loser will exit the effort understanding a release is almost certainly around the corner.

UFC officials confirmed the July 6 scrap earlier today.

Herman was recently cleared for competition after being suspended for marijuana use in the wake of a loss to Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. The stumble was his third straight, dropping his record to 21-5. Regardless, Herman remains a threat to finish most foes he faces with 20 TKOs/submissions to his credit.

Del Rosario also came up short in his previous pairing, suffering a knockout to Pat Barry after enduring a similar fate in his UFC debut against Stipe Miocic seven months earlier. Prior to the defeats he’d won all eleven of his outings with none going the distance.

UFC 162 is headlined by middleweight champ Anderson Silva putting his gold up for grabs against Chris Weidman. Other featured fights include Frankie Edgar-Charles Oliveira, Tim Boetsch-Mark Munoz, Tim Kennedy-Roger Gracie, and Chan Sung Jung-Ricardo Lamas.
