Aleks EmelianenkoThe good news is an Emelianenko is coming off the sidelines after what many fans would label as a premature end to his career. The bad news is the Russian heavyweight involved is not named Fedor.

31-year old PRIDE veteran Aleksander Emelianenko recently revealed he’d decided to return to the ring after spending the past few months at a monastery where he apparently received advice from his confessor to end his retirement. Emelianenko went on to say he’d already signed a multi-fight deal with Russian organization Pro FC.

Though he doesn’t have a date/opponent for his official debut, Emelianenko did hint at it occurring at some point this summer.

The 21-6 Emelianenko saw a four-fight winning streak snapped by Jeff Monson last November in his last bout before temporarily hanging his gloves up. Eighteen of Emelianenko’s victories have featured some form of stoppage including past success against James Thompson and Sergei Kharitonov.
