Demetrious JohnsonUFC flyweight champ Demetrious Johnson had to pull out of an upcoming title-defense for health-related reasons and now a little more light has been shed on the severity of his affliction. Johnson recently confirmed he suffered a torn labrum, sidelining the 26-year old for an unknown amount of time while rehabbing the injury.

According to an interview with MMAJunkie, “Mighty Mouse” will get surgery to repair the damage on Thursday. He is still expected to face John Moraga when he returns to speed.

“Injuries seem to be a part of my career,” explained Johnson matter of factly, showing confidence in his ability to fully recover. “Labrums are something people tear all the time and they go their whole lives with a torn labrum. Mine had torn once before. It healed on its own and I re-tore it.”

Johnson is 17-2-1 in his career with wins over John Dodson, Ian McCall, and Joseph Benavidez at 125 pounds where he holds divisional gold.
