In less than two weeks UFC welterweight Johny Hendricks will put his claim to top contendership on the line, facing Carlos Condit on short notice at UFC 158 in hopes of finally cementing a title-shot many feel he’s already earned by winning five fights in a row including victories over Josh Koscheck, Jon Fitch, and Martin Kampmann. However, Hendricks recently revealed he hasn’t been told a win over Condit will earn him anything other than a chunk of cash for coming out of the clash with his hand raised.
“If I can go out there and do good against Condit, what else is there for me except for GSP,” asked Hendricks rhetorically, adding, “Nothing else matters. GSP is on the backburner right now.”
“The only thing I do know is if I beat Condit then there’s nothing else to prove,” he concluded.
Hendricks is 14-1 with eight knockouts notched on his trophy case. Comparably, Condit is 28-6 and was last seen going five rounds with St-Pierre where he fell by decision despite landing some solid offense throughout their effort.
