UFC welterweight Paulo Thiago has had a rough go of it as late after a solid start to his run in the Octagon, dropping four of his last five fights. Though Thiago is at risk of being released with another loss, the 32-year old will enter the Octagon in his next outing with the raucous support of his fellow countrymen after being tabbed for a tilt at UFC on FX 8 in Brazil.
According to a report from MSN, Thiago has been booked against Lance Benoist at the May 18 event. UFC officials have ye to confirm the clash.
The 14-5 Thiago holds past wins over the likes of Mike Swick, Jacob Volkmann, and Josh Koscheck. Ten of his triumphs have featured some form of finish.
Benoist is in an equally tough spot career-wise with stumbles in his last two fights after debuting in victorious fashion against Matt Riddle. He is 6-2 in his career with four submissions to his credit.
