Matt Riddle cut after another failed drug test

Matt Riddle - UFC on Fuel 7UFC welterweight Matt Riddle’s career appears to have gone up in smoke after a blazing start with an 8-3 record in the Octagon including wins in his last three tilts. In truth, Riddle has had his hand raised four times in a row, but a victory over Chris Clements was ruled a No Contest after the Ultimate Fighter alumnus failed a post-fight drug test for marijuana use. Along those same lines, Riddle was popped again for smoking pot leading up to his February 16 match-up with Che Mills and has since been released from the roster.

Riddle, who has a license for medical marijuana, confirmed the matter to MMAJunkie Radio.

All of Riddle’s professional appearances have come under the UFC’s banner after entering TUF 7 as a legitimate rookie. Among the opponents Riddle took out during his run are the likes of John Maguire, Dan Cramer, and DaMarques Johnson.

I like the opening sentence Brendhan, nice touch.

  • JabCrossHook says:

I think Brendhan might’ve been a little stoned himself when he wrote this

“popped against smoking”? don’t you mean again?

  • AlphaOmega says:

He could of been still laughing over his pun worthy opening sentence too

  • hindsightufuk says:

now this cut makes me happy, leaves an unexpected gap at 170, wonder who could fill it.

  • Richard Stabone says:

Riddle has been winning but not in a fashion acceptable to the UFC prez. This move isn’t really about smoking pot–the guy fighting for the WW title next month is fresh off a drug suspension and a repeat offender–but it did provide Dana with an excuse to kick Riddle’s butt to the curb.

  • raker says:

That is one creepy picture of Riddle.

It’s funny how two fighters go from being a main event attraction to unemployed within days.

  • Angry Mike says:

Riddle has the most brutal ko of TUF history, imo. He starched some guy to get into the house, and the guy was moaning on the canvas and on the gurney as they wheeled him into an ambulance.

  • AlphaOmega says:

Well I guess it might be better then being fined 90k for testing positive for weed like Chavez Jr was
