The UFC appears to have added another fight to April’s lineup for the Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale and, as is often the case on such cards, one of the involved competitors is a TUF alumnus. Specifically, the scrap features TUF 15’s Sam Sicilia facing Maximo Blanco. Though both men are coming off losses, their mutual love of stand-up should result in a solid dose of entertainment come showtime.
MMAWeekly was first to report the featherweights’ fight.
Sicilia fell to Rony “Jason” last October, dropping his UFC record to 1-1 after knocking out Cristiano Marcello in his Octagon debut. The 11-2 Sicilia has finished ten of the opponents he’s faced with eight of the wins coming in opening round of action.
Blanco made a name for himself in Japan, picking up victories over the likes of Katsuya Inoue and Rodrigo Damm. He holds an overall mark of 8-4-1 including seven strike-based stoppages.
Scheduled for April 13 in Las Vegas, the Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale is headlined by a flyweight title-fight between Demetrious Johnson-John Moraga with other match-ups on deck including Miesha Tate-Cat Zingano and Gabriel Gonzaga-Travis Browne.
