UFC 157 PosterThe UFC is set to make history in a little less than two weeks when Ronda Rousey and Liz Carmouche take to the Octagon, marking the company’s first fight between females. Rousey will enter the cage with the UFC bantamweight belt in tow though the future of women’s MMA will also be slung over her shoulder come showtime considering the promotional push she’s received.

Also scheduled to scrap at UFC 157 are light heavyweights Dan HendersonLyoto Machida with the winner likely going on to receive a crack at the divisional championship.

The quartet of competitors is set to participate in a conference call with media this afternoon starting at 2:00 PM EST. As usual, Five Ounces of Pain will be on the line and relaying live highlights back to our readers including interesting nuggets of information and the occasional quote.

Ronda Rousey

– Having mother who was an Oylmpic medalist made all goals seem obtainable
– Worried about winning for herself, not how her performance affects other female fighters
– Says it’s a shame to see wrestling go, thinks it could be a result of countries like the USA dominating the sport
– Rousey says her emotional breakdown on UFC Primetime was the product of hours of interviews, credits the production crew for knowing what they’re doing
– Says she won’t talk about her father’s death anymore
– Isn’t bothered by “Cyborg” Santos wanting out of the UFC / “She doesn’t really have any other options besides me.” / Calls her “Cry-borg” / Feels she is making noise to try and keep her name out there, relevant

– Not interested in a catch-weight fight with Santos if she beats Rousey

Dan Henderson

– Happy to only have a three-round fight ahead of him
– Sad to see Olympics possibly get rid of wrestling
– “There’s a lot on the line and he’s definitely going to be a huge challenge.”

Lyoto Machida

– Believes a title-shot is definitely on the line in his fight with Henderson
– Doesn’t regret turning down fight with Jon Jones last year based on lack of preparation time

Dana White

– Not on the call after traveling to Ireland to receive an award and suffering an attack of Meneire’s Disease
