Now a regular on Fuel TV’s coverage of the UFC, light heavyweight title-contender Chael Sonnen was recently asked to give his take on tonight’s headlining tilt between Michael Bisping–Vitor Belfort at UFC on FX 7. In addition to simply having a mind for MMA, Sonnen also knows what it’s like to be in the Octagon with Bisping after narrowly outpointing him in a hard-fought decision last year.
Sonnen began by offering up praise of Belfort’s power, pointing out the fact the Brazilian owns the most first-frame knockouts in UFC history, but ultimately seemed to lean towards “The Count” when making the call on who he felt would emerge victorious.
“He is absolutely relentless. He’s known for his cardio. He will jab, he will hit you in the legs with kicks, he circles, he moves…he actually reminds me a little bit of Dominick Cruz,” said Sonnen. “He’s very hard to finish. This is a very tough guy.”
