As might be expected, the UFC’s addition of fighters formerly calling Strikeforce home has resulted in the subtraction of those whose most recent action has come inside the Octagon. With more cuts likely to come, the organization has already parted ways with a nine competitors lacking consistent success (or any at all) under the UFC’s banner.

Those sharing the unfortunate distinction are Chad Griggs, Yasuhiro Urushitani, Henry Martinez, Joey Gambino, Nick Penner, John Cofer, Jeff Hougland, Marcus LeVesseur, and Jared Papazian.

MMA Opinion was first to report the group’s release.

Griggs came into the UFC on a nice winning streak including success at heavyweight but went 0-2 with both losses coming in the opening round of action. Hougland, Urushitani, Cofer, Penner, Gambino, and Papazian were also all coming off consecutive stumbles in the cage.
