Invicta FC has been busy crowning new champions over the past few months as the promotion continues to pick up momentum and will do so once again in April at Invicta FC 5 when Vanessa Porto-Barb Honchak meet for the company’s inaugural flyweight strap. However, at the same event, Invicta FC will also host its first title-defense with Jessica Penne putting her atomweight belt up for grabs against Michelle Waterson.

Shannon Knapp, the organization’s President, confirmed the clash this week on MMAJunkie Radio.

The 10-1 Penne won her gold in October by submitting Naho Sugiyama in the second round of their headlining tilt at Invicta FC 3. The instance of success was her third straight and sixth overall by way of tap-out.

Meanwhile, Waterson holds a career mark of 10-3 including eight victories featuring some form of finish. “The Karate Hottie” is currently on a four-fight winning streak.

Invicta FC 5 was initially scheduled for April 13 but the date is in the process of changing due to the Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale taking place on the same day. In addition to the aforementioned match-ups, other fighters expected to see action on the card include Bec Hyatt, Rose Namajunas, Veronica Rothenhausler, and Sarah Kaufman.
